Double Page Spread Analysis

This is the double page spread analysis, the magazine being analysed is Q, looking at its set up, where the image cover most of the page, there are two text boxes whilst on the side one thing that catches the audience eye is the badge on the top left corner, what this does is give the audience that hint of what they should expect whilst they read the page.

Audience Profile

Looking at my audience, the age that i will be targeting with my magazine are between the age of 16 and 21. And the reason to this is because their sort of taste when it comes to the genre of Hip Hop/R n B isnt much of a difference as they are quite close on similarities.

As for the gender, this will be both male and female due to the different artists that will feature in the magazine, also having both genders means that there is a more broad audience. There is also the music taste, as for this i will generally be targeting these with a taste of Hip Hop/R n B so basically rap in general. However i can also target those who have interest in fast beats because in the genre of hip hop, the music flows in a quite fast pace.

The other interests they could have is maybe being in sports such as basketball or football. Also those who love to go out with friends from time to time, clubbing, parties and so on. Other than those who choose to stay in and maybe only communicate through social sites such as Facebook, Twitter. Their disposable income would range from the price of £1.80/£2.20 due to the age range, not having that much to spend on a magazine.

As for the education level, it doesn't really matter because even those being generally smart can also be able to listen to the style/genre of Hip Hop/ R n B

My Drafts/Magazine so far

So far this is my cover and contents page, as for the title it is "bounce" where there is the figure covering the most of the page and other information related to what in the rest on the magazine is displayed on the left hand side. As for the contents page I have placed the images on the left bottom corner and top right hand side with other bits of information on the sides of it.

This is a collage of the contents page in research, i like particularly like the pages which have a single figure and then the information on the side, the idea i have is having the quality but keeping it simple.

First Photo Shoot

 


 This is the first image taken, I like it particularly because it shows her full figure other then it being in a close up angle, so placing it on the front of the magazine would fit well however the background I don't think it works well.

With this image, it is more of a medium shot, the body and hand gesture works well as it also relates to the genre of the magazine.

Here I was trying to get a different angle of the artist in which it will give me a choice of the different position when it comes to deciding which one I will want to use for the magazine. 

Photo Shoot

Here I am looking at the different artists in which I will be including in the magazine and also including different locations to where I was having the photo shoot done. On the image on the left i particularly like the position that it is in because it has her in the framing and also give a look into the location in which she is in. 

On the right hand side shows her in a different position and with a different effect set on the camera although I don't particularly like it that much because it has some sort of distortion. 

This is a high angle shot with a grey/black effect set on the camera

The image on the right shows her full body and looking closely into her eyes one can see that fierce that she is giving which would engage the audience. she is looking directly into the camera. 

This shot shows the side of the artist, looking at the gesture they are giving and also the costume they have is good because it reflects well with the genre of the magazine. 

Here we see another shot of the artist but this time we only see the back of it, and being a medium shot  the has been some effect on the photo and also again the gesture being given as he is pointing up into the skies. Below there are other three different shots withe different gestures I thought of taking other than just having one. With these images, one can easily identify the location. 

As for this image, there is a plain background due to the fact that it is a different artist, looking at the way they are looking into the camera which i particularly like because in a way it does create some attraction towards the reader or whoever is looking at it because of the way the artist is staring/looking.

Photo Shoot Continued

These were other shots that i managed to take in that particular location but with different costumes or dress code on the artist. The shoe being shown on the image on the left is there to show some of the dress code that were on the photo shoot. 

This is shot is a low angle, looking at the artist who is looking away from the camera into the distance, there is that shadow effect due to the sun coming in from the right side as one looks directly at the image. 

This is also a low angled shot but with the positioning being different as you can compare with the image on the top, looking at the sunshine rays. 

This is a much closer shot, showing the artist half body as she looks directly into the camera. 

Both these images are of the same location, one shows her looking into the camera and one looking away from the camera. 

The shot on the right is a low angle shot which shows the artists full body as she looks away and the camera having some effects set on it. Conveys that she is powerful as the audiences seem small when looking at it. 

This image on the left is a slightly high angled shot as it is also a bit far from the artist which means that it is also showing much of the location in the background. 

The image on the right conveys her in a different pose and having an effect of the background seeming long than it actually is. 

The last three images shows her also as she poses different form the way she was on the other images, here she is much lower and she is not standing either looking into the camera however the artist is smiling but not in all of them. There are also effects on all of the images such as sepia and grey. 

BAUER

The publishing company that i will go with is Bauer and the reason to this is because they seem to be the one's who will be able to match well with the genre and aims of my magazine. Looking at some of the top brands that they already have such as KISS which relate to what music that will be displayed on my magazine.

They may be intereseted more towards womens weeklies and so on but with the brands they have on their side, dont neccessarily look at that. They are also big in Europe so meaning that there is that variety of spread on my magazine audience in different countries. I think that they have been successful in most of the magazines they have been representing already.

Photoshoot Location

This is where the photoshoot took place, and the reason why i thought it is a good area because it reflects well with the genre of the magazine which is hip hop/r n b. 

There is that graffiti which is really good because having the individual taken in this location could work even as the background of the magazine, not only this but it could be a way of helping getting the house style for the magazine, trying to match the dress code and getting the balance right.

Front Page Draft

The above image is my draft for the front cover page of my music magazine. As you can see with the colours that are reflected, they are yellow, purple and blue. The reason I chose these colours is because of the they blend with each other and also it makes it look attractive which then catches the the target audience attention which leads them to picking one up and purchasing it. On the left hand side, the part in yellow is the section in which the other images will be allocated, so those in much smaller size and also the the writing found on the side which help in telling what is in the rest of the magazine. It will have a sort of rip effect going along it instead of just a line which is shown in the image on right.

Looking at the hand drawn figure at the center,it represents the position of the main image, as for the title "bounce",it is going to be in blue and in style writing in order to relate top the genre of the magazine which is hip hop/r n b. Along its sides there will be different fonts with different words of the news or stories that will be featuring in the magazine.

Cover Page Research

Music Magazine Pitch

Genre: R n B / Hip Hop

Weekly/Monthly Price: The price of it ranges from £1.80 and £2.20, this price comes from an influence from the target audience.

Audience: Teenagers with interest to the particular genre, this is both boys and girls with ages of 15-25 years old.

As for the audience profile, this is includes on the likes and dislikes following the certain artist. Not only this but also for other things as the bibiography sort of thing(career so far). Some of the artist being included are Flo Rida, Kendrick Lumar, Ludacris and Rita Ora.

Name (associations): There a few names which i thought of for this type of magazine such as "word up", "Off the Hook" and even "Chop Down" but as a conclusion, i have decided on naming this magazine "Bounce". The word backs up its initail genre, it is a word that when someone hears of it gets them engaged, that the aim, engaging the audience.

House Style and Colours: Blue, Purple and Yellow.
Font: Snap ITC, Trajan, Linotype Finnegan

Images: On the front cover of the magazine i will have the a solo image of the artist, and on the left side of it i will have other artists on the side in much smalle images. On the double spread there will be an image of the artist with a sort of crowd behind.
